Located near Hana, this beach shares some of its facilities with Travaasa (formerly the Hotel Hana Maui). Hamoa Beach is a public beach, and all are welcome.

Hamoa is unprotected by outlying reefs which can make surf conditions severe. This beach can experience large surf conditions in winter months or when East swells are present.

Hamoa Beach is approximately 1,000 feet in length and just over 100 feet wide. There are plenty of trees and lush vegetation giving the beach plenty of shade. Hamoa Beach has sea cliffs surrounding it. There are restrooms and showers.
Hamoa Beach is consistently named one of “Maui’s Best Beaches” each year. Hamoa made the list again as “America’s Best Beaches” in 2012 by Dr. Beach in his annual list of top beaches. Dr. Beach (Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman) is Professor and Director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research at Florida International University and is generally considered the country’s foremost authority on beaches.
